The Fascinating Life of Gertrude Bell
Join Barrington Public Library on Sunday, March 26, at 1:00 PM to hear Bob Begin recount the story of the dauntless Gertrude Bell, a woman who was able to ride a camel as well as any Bedouin trader, spoke seven languages fluently, was a skilled archaeologist, cartographer, linguist, photographer, and diplomat, and defied the limitations of her time. Attendees will be swept away with tales of Bell's explorations across the Middle East and her pivotal role in the Arab quest for self-government. This is the story of a woman who possessed great vision and determination, decades ahead of her time.
