Analyzing Your Data with OLIS & OSL

Do you have questions about your library services, collections, or operations, but not sure what data you need to answer those questions? Join Kelly Metzger from OLIS and Steve Spohn from OSL as they model how to search the annual comparative statistics reports available from OLIS and the Tableau dashboards from OSL to help you answer your questions and make data-driven decisions. This session is open to all who are curious about data and how it can be used to inform and support your efforts. All levels of experience with data are welcome!

This will be a two-part series.

  • In the first session, Kelly and Steve will present some data and model how to investigate your data. Before the second session, they invite participants to do some of their own investigating.
  • In the second session, participants will bring their homework to share what they discovered, describe the difficulties they encountered, and discuss further questions stemming from the experience. Kelly and Steve will lead discussion on selecting data to answer your questions and tell your story, while also diving into the topic of consistent data collection (making sure we are comparing apples to apples).
