Library Futures Conference

This full day workshop will feature Miguel Figueroa of the American Library Association’s Center for the Future of Libraries, along with other futurists and innovators from the library world and beyond, to provide you with a foundation in futurecasting that you can take back to your library and apply. We will look at trends to understand what forces are shaping our society today, especially those that impact libraries and librarianship, and hear from speakers who are creating the future – and will help us learn how we can better prepare our libraries for that future. Speakers will include Siu-Li Khoe from RI Virtual Reality, Laura Jackson from the Highlander Institute, Scott Andes from the National League of Cities, and more to be announced.

This program is a collaboration of the Office of Library and Information Services, the RI Office of Innovation, the RI Library Association, the Coalition of Library Advocates, and the University of Rhode Island Graduate School of Library and Information Studies.

The Office of Library and Information Services will make a reasonable attempt to arrange appropriate accommodations for individuals with disabilities or special needs. Contact Nicolette Baffoni (nicolette.baffoni@olis.ri.gov or 401-574-9316) to request an accommodation.
