Mindfulness in Ordinary and Extraordinary Times for Library Staff Part I

Library staff experience stress in their roles under normal circumstances. In recent times those stressors can be even greater as we attempt to manage a “new normal.” While every staff member and library may have unique challenges, all staff can benefit from applying mindfulness to their lives and work. Providing a basic understanding of mindfulness with a brief examination of its tenets in the context of library work, Dr. Richard Moniz will give participants an opportunity to consider how they might better take care of themselves and their patrons across a three part series that will benefit all library staff.

Goals for this series:

  1. Understand common and current stressors affecting library staff.
  2. Define mindfulness and gain awareness of mindful practice.
  3. Apply mindfulness to library work in stressful circumstances.

Register for Part II and Part III in this series.
