Gardening with Native Plants

Gardening with Native Plants

Join South Kingstown Public Library on Zoom and learn how to use native plants to create beautiful, well-balanced, and thriving landscapes. Backyards represent opportunities for our native plants, animals, birds, and pollinators. Turn your garden into a living ecosystem that will provide food, water, shelter, and safe places for wildlife. Learn about ground covers and wildflowers for a variety of conditions.

Registration required. To register, please email bobertello@skpl.org. View event description on South Kingstown Public Library's website.

URI Master Gardener Karen Asher will be leading this program. Karen is a native plant specialist and former president of the Rhode Island Wild Plant Society. She holds a certificate in native plant studies with a focus on field botany from the New England Wildflower Society and she volunteers in its plant conservation program assessing the status of rare species in Rhode Island. She has published articles on native plants and works on the Rhody Native Project at URI.
