Census Bureau Data 101: Resources and Services

Census Bureau Data 101: Resources and Services

Have you tried to use Census data in the past, but found yourself overwhelmed and unsure how to navigate the site or its tools? Has a patron ever asked you how to find something on the Census website, and you struggled to find what they needed? In this workshop, led by Data Dissemination Specialist Nicole McKenzie from US Census Bureau, we will take a tour of the Census Bureau’s website and highlight areas that may be most useful to library staff and patrons. This workshop will also include a demonstration on how to quickly pull up your community's data profile.

Following this workshop, attendees will be able to understand, access, and use Census Bureau data, which can be helpful to libraries for community research and outreach, program planning, and resource allocation. Attendees will be able to assist patrons more confidently in accessing data and navigating the Census website.

This is the first of four workshops with US Census Bureau. Make sure to check out the other workshops in the series:

All workshops will be recorded and available in the OLIS Library Learning Center on Niche Academy.

If any reasonable accommodation is needed to ensure equal access or participation, contact the Office of Library and Information Services at (401) 574-9300 not less than three (3) business days in advance of the meeting or program date. More advanced notice is highly advisable.
